Event Description: This workshop series is part of a BC Housing Research Centre project that aims to identify the affordable housing issues and capacity needs of small communities. This research focuses on forums, surveys and interviews with local governments, developers, builders and non-profit organizations, to better understand the issues from each perspective and to create a scan of leading practices in small communities in BC and elsewhere.
Join BC Housing and the Whistler Centre for Sustainability at one of the engaging workshops we’re hosting in three small BC communities. Be part of the conversation to better understand the key challenges in developing affordable housing. Learn proven best practices in building affordable housing and how to co-develop specific strategies in your community to get housing on the ground.
These workshops are of interest to builders, developers, planners, local governments, non-profit organizations and other housing sector representatives.
Workshop Objectives:
• To develop a common understanding among BC small communities of the main challenges as well as leading practices in building affordable housing.
• To provide a forum for learning about leading practices, tools and strategies for building affordable housing.
• To provide facilitated discussion among stakeholders to share knowledge and exchange ideas.
• To support the development of an immediate-term implementation plan for building affordable housing in the community.
Workshop cost is $20 for non-profit organization attendees, $30 for "regular" attendees. Lunch is included.
